Residential Conveyancing Solicitor

MOV8 Real Estate is an innovative firm of Solicitors and Estate Agents based at South Gyle, Edinburgh. Our conveyancing department has become one of the busiest in Scotland, due to continued growth we are looking for a qualified Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to work within our high-achieving, professional Conveyancing team.   

The Role

This is an exciting career opportunity to work within a team that strive for excellence and proficiency in their service. You will be responsible for all legal processes, carrying out both sale and purchase, residential conveyancing transactions from start to completion. You will liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and solicitors as well as support and liaise with team members regularly.

You will be responsible for your own caseload and will be assisted by our highly trained and efficient legal support team in areas such as case file setup, ID/AML, client support and case file administration. You will also be supported by an experienced Head of Conveyancing who will work with you to further your career development and training.

Our Solicitor role will suit an ambitious candidate who is seeking high levels of responsibility and a fast paced environment. You will be in charge of a significant number of conveyancing transactions and will deliver a consistent, excellent level of service. Naturally, you should enjoy all aspects of the process of buying and selling residential property in Scotland.


  • Responsible for providing advice to clients on residential conveyancing transactions;

  • Developing strong relations and keeping clients up to date with the progress of their transaction both via email and telephone;

  • Taking instructions for the sale and purchase of properties, transfers of title, new build purchases, security discharges and private client remortgage work;

  • Liaising with other solicitors on residential property sales/purchases;

  • Effective monitoring and scrutiny of files ensuring timescales are met and that paperwork is processed, filed and kept up-to-date;

  • Delivering monthly targets for conveyancing transactions;

  • Assisting in auditing, anti-money laundering and source of funds compliance checks;

  • Liaising with third party suppliers involved in the conveyancing process.

Essential qualities include:

  • A solicitor qualified to practice law in Scotland, with a current Law Society of Scotland practising certificate;

  • Minimum of 2 years post qualified experience

  • A competent working knowledge of legal aspects of residential property sales and purchases;

  • A proven track record in handling conveyancing transactions;

  • An excellent, up-to-date knowledge of the Scottish conveyancing processes;

  • Client focused interpersonal and communication skills;

  • IT literacy in a range of systems and software.

Desirable qualities include:

  • Previous experience of working with case management software systems;

  • A desire to lead and mentor other team members.

Your salary will be £36,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending upon your experience. You will also receive a competitive benefits package. Your are required to work 37.5 hours per week. The working hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm.
